Contribute to this Year’s 4th of July

The Carnation 4th of July Committee is a 501(c)3 non-profit! We bring in new volunteer committee leaders, contributors, and volunteers year-round! If you are a local or neighbor to Carnation who cares about sustaining community, building connection with care, and contributing to shared experiences that turn neighbors into friends, we’d love to connect.

Off-Season Volunteering (i.e. August through May) - Check out our Open Volunteer Roles list below!

In-Season Volunteering (i.e. June and July) - For week-of and month-before support, our SignUpGenius is the best way to sign up to contribute to the actual event and festivities on the 4th. Please click the link here and sign up for one of the open volunteer opportunities.

Open Volunteer needs

  • Are you a high-schooler or young professional looking for a chance to help an organization shine on social media - particularly on behalf of its sponsors? Come work with our Sponsorships Chair, Megan Fielding, to help design a social media strategy for helping our sponsors shine!

  • One of the most important roles on the 4th is hosting our trash and recycling program for the 3rd and 4th of July in downtown Carnation. Bring your group to help as Hospitality Hosts, setting out garbage areas at key locations, ensuring all litter makes it into the cans, and bringing bins in and restacking cans at the end of the day.

This role may be eligible for a fundraiser contribution from the 4th to aligned causes.

  • The 4th’s info booth at Vendor Village is the first place for passersby to stop, learn more about the event, get to know Carnation, and find out what’s happening in town! Welcome visitors, find out where they’re from, and help them learn about our amazing town and the events, businesses and activities going on for the 4th - and all summer/year long.

  • The fireworks and music at Remlinger Farms on the evening of the 4th are an annual classic! Greet visitors at the Emu Gate to welcome them to Carnation and the event, share about how to support the fireworks, and help us tally arrival patterns so we can plan for excellent hospitality based on when people prefer to arrive.

  • Help with early Vendor load-in on July 3rd or early morning Vendor load-in on July 4th! Come down to Tolt Commons where you’ll get to know business and organization leaders directly, learn how to set up tents and create a beautiful atmosphere, and help set up a vibrant marketplace for all our locals and visitors on the day of the event.

  • Do you love to be outdoors, cheer runners on, and make health and fitness possible in a beautiful location? Join our 5K team for the early-morning Pies & Pints 5K on the 4th! Run the Registration table, hand out snacks, staff a run refill and hospitality station, or help with photos or scoring. Bring your group or sign up as family members of a runner and help the race happen.

  • Do you love the energy, fun and excitement of a parade and want to take the next step to making it happen? Join our Parade Route volunteers to help the Parade make it down Tolt Ave. Get a whistle and a vest and keep our crowds and floats safe.

Volunteer Benefits

Make a difference! Families, groups and individuals return year after year for the 4th because they love the impact they get to make on sharing lifelong memories with their own kids or grandkids and others’, regardless of income, background, age, language, or life experience.

Find your people: We build friendship and cameraderie with other families and organizations in the local area and meet neighbors and leaders who become friends and collaborators.

Fun gear: Our year-round Committee Members receive jazzy 4th of July Committee blue + white sweatshirts to wear throughout the rainy season, as well as red + white volunteer shirts to wear during the summer months!

Day-of treats: Day-of volunteers enjoy coffee, treats and other lunch snacks courtesy of our generous sponsors.

Lifelong memories: The stories we tell about our 4th parades and pie-eating contests growing up continue to inspire a love for service in our leadership journeys and our kids.
